Browns' Hillis falls just short

BY foxsports • May 27, 2011

Browns fans stuffed the digital ballot boxes and spread the word, but Peyton Hillis couldn't beat Michael Vick in the online race to be on the cover of the Madden '12 video game.

Hillis, who bruised his way to popularity with Browns fans with his punishing running style last season, was announced as the second-place finisher in the online voting on Thursday. Vick will make his second appearance on the cover of the wildly popular Madden video game; he was also the cover boy in 2004.

Hillis and Vick emerged through a bracket-style competition held over the last month. Hillis defeated Ray Rice, Matt Ryan and Jamaal Charles in prior rounds of voting.

Finishing second is still an honor for Hillis, who a little over a year ago was buried deep on the Broncos' depth chart. Hillis was acquired by the Browns last spring in a trade for Brady Quinn. In his first season as a starter, he ran for 1,177 yards and 11 touchdowns.
