Brittany Bowe wins women's 500 at US long track

WEST ALLIS, Wis. (AP) Brittany Bowe has won the women's 500 meters at the U.S. Long Track Championships.

The 2014 Olympian and three-time world champion won with times of 38.17 seconds and 38.31 seconds Friday at the Pettit Center.

Bowe also is a top contender in the 1,000 and 1,500.

Mitch Whitmore took the men's 500 meters at a familiar venue. The Milwaukee-area native had winning times of 35.24 and 34.98. He also competed in the 2014 Olympics.

In other events, Mia Mangenello won the women's 3,000. She was skating in her first competition since 2009.

K.C. Boutiette took the men's 5,000.
