KEARNS, Utah (AP) Speedskater Brittany Bowe won't compete in next week's world single distance championships in South Korea because of lingering symptoms from a concussion.
USA Speedskating said Friday that Bowe sustained the concussion before the World Cup season began. It didn't provide further details.
Bowe is a seven-time medalist at the world single distance championships. The long-track skater was set to compete in the 500 meters and 1,000 meters at the event beginning Feb. 9 in Gangneung, South Korea, where it is an official test event for the 2018 Winter Olympics.
She will be replaced by Sugar Todd in the 500, while Kelly Gunther takes Bowe's spot in the 1,000.
