Brewers minor leaguer Arcia named to Futures Game roster
With the Milwaukee Brewers struggling in 2015, some might have an eye on the future. Fans will be able to watch arguably Milwaukee's top prospect in the Futures Game as Biloxi infielder Orlando Arcia was chosen Thursday for this year's contest, to be played July 12 at 2 p.m. CT at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati, two days before the All-Star Game.
Arcia will play for the World team, which will be managed by Hall of Famer Tony Perez. The U.S. squad will be managed by Ken Griffey Sr.
Arcia, who has primarily played shortstop for the Shuckers but has also manned second base in three games, is batting .307 with a .354 on-base percentage and .436 slugging percentage.
The native of Venezuela is the youngest player on Biloxi -- he turned 21 on Aug. 4 -- and the ninth-youngest player in all of Double-A.
Last season, pitcher Jorge Lopez was the Brewers' lone representative in the Futures Game, retiring the only batter he faced.
