Brewers' Gorzelanny to DL

With a pitching staff that's already struggling, the Milwaukee Brewers have lost one of their more reliable relievers to the disabled list.

Left-hander Tom Gorzelanny has been placed on the DL with left shoulder tendinitis, retroactive to May 8.

Signed as a free agent this offseason, Gorzelanny is 1-0 with a 2.30 ERA over 15 2/3 innings in 18 games this season. Gorzelanny last pitched Tuesday when he threw a scoreless inning in Milwaukee's 6-3 victory over Texas.

Right-hander Mike Fiers will be recalled from advanced Class-A Brevard County for Sunday's series finale in Cincinnati. Fiers was optioned to Triple-A Nashville on April 18 after posting a 8.59 ERA with the Brewers this season. He needed to attend to a personal matter near his Florida home, so the Brewers let him pitch in Brevard County.

In 17 innings in Triple-A, Fiers had a 1.59 ERA.
