Brewers acquire OF Cordell to complete Lucroy trade
The Milwaukee Brewers on Monday completed their Aug. 1 trade with the Texas Rangers by acquiring minor-league outfielder Ryan Cordell.
The 24-year-old Cordell hit .264 with 19 home runs and 77 RBI in 107 games this season for Double-A Frisco. He has been on the disabled list since Aug. 3.
The Rangers selected the 6-foot-4 Cordell in the 11th round in 2013 out of Liberty. He is a career .275 minor-league hitter, with 55 home runs in 384 games.
MLB.com ranks Cordell as the Ranger's sixth-best prospect. Baseball America ranked him as the 11th-best prospect in the Rangers organization entering 2016.
Cordell is the third player the Brewers acquired from the Rangers as part of the trade, in which they dealt two-time All-Star catcher Jonathan Lucroy and closer Jeremy Jeffress. Milwaukee also received outfielder Lewis Brinson and pitcher Luis Ortiz in the deal.
