Braves' spring cap an homage to Aaron's historic HR
The Braves will have a redesigned cap for spring training that pays homage to Hank Aaron.
In honor of the 40th anniversary of his 715th home run run, which at the time put him past Babe Ruth for the all-time record, the team will wear hats with a lowercase 'a' in red, white and blue.
Manufacturer New Era unveiled three new 'Diamond Era' spring training hats on Wednesday -- which is Aaron's 80th birthday -- with the White Sox and Blue Jays also getting new logos for the spring, all with a nod to the team's histories. The cap-maker's description of the Braves alternate states "2014 marks the 40th anniversary of a legendary record-breaking season, and this design reflects the style and logo of the cap the team wore at that time."
The White Sox's logo is a nod to the team's batterman logo from 1976-90, while the Blue Jays cap incorporates the maple leaf from the Canadian flag.
