A 12-year-old boy from Oklahoma searching for an NFL team to root for took matters into his own hands.
Cade Pope wrote a letter two weeks ago to all 32 teams asking them why he should root for their franchise.
Only one club responded to Pope. Last Thursday, the sixth-grader received a handwritten letter from Carolina owner Jerry Richardson, who said he'd be honored if the youngster became a Panthers backer. Pope also got a helmet signed by the team's star linebacker, Luke Kuechly.

Pope, though, did not declare his fandom. "If this is the only team that responds to me, I'm a Carolina Panthers fan," he said.
