ST. LOUIS – Blues Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today the club has acquired a conditional seventh round draft pick in 2014 from Boston in exchange for defenseman Wade Redden.
Redden, 35, dressed in 23 games for the Blues this season posting five points including two goals and three assists to go along with 11 penalty minutes. Overall, the 6’2, 205-pound defenseman has appeared in 1,017 career National Hockey League (NHL) games between Ottawa, the New York Rangers and St. Louis accumulating 455 points (108 goals, 347 assists) and 665 penalty minutes.
Doug Armstrong also announced today the club has signed forward Dmitrij Jaskin (dih-MEE-tree YEAH-skihn) to a three-year entry level contract. Jaskin will report to the Blues’ American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, Peoria Rivermen.
“Jaskin is an NHL-ready combination of size and skill,” said Blues’ Director of Player Development, Tim Taylor. “His offensive prowess, physicality and hockey sense give him the versatility to play up and down the lineup and contribute in a variety of roles.”
Jaskin, 20, dressed in 51 games for the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League’s (QMJHL) Moncton Wildcats leading the club and ranking 5th league-wide with 99 points including 46 goals and 53 assists to go along with 73 penalty minutes. In addition, the 6’3, 205-pound forward was named the QMJHL’s first star of the month for November 2012 and January 2013 while he also earned first star of the week honors for consecutive weeks in January. Prior to 2012-13, Jaskin spent the previous two seasons with Slavia Praha HC of the Czech Extraleague posting 12 points (four goals, eight assists) and 32 penalty minutes in 63 career games.
The Omsk, Russia native was drafted by the Blues in the second round, 41st overall, of the 2011 Entry Draft.
