Blues sign Brodeur to three-year contract as assistant GM
The Blues have a new assistant GM -- and he has a pretty familiar face.
The club announced Wednesday that it had reached an agreement on a three-year contract with Martin Brodeur to continue his work in the team's front office. Longtime New Jersey Devils goalie Brodeur, 43, joined the Blues as a free agent on Dec. 2, 2014, and played seven games with the Blues -- posting a 3-3-0 record -- before retiring from his 21-year playing career on Jan. 29.
Brodeur has worked as a senior advisor to general manager Doug Armstrong in the months since.
Brodeur's playing career was one of many successes. He leads the league in regular-season wins (691), shutouts (125), games played (1,266) and minutes played (74,439). He started in 204 playoff games, posting 24 postseason shutouts and 113 postseason wins. He also appeared in 10 NHL All-Star Games and led the NHL in wins nine times, shutouts five times and games played six times.
Brodeur was a three-time Stanley Cup champion with the Devils and a two-time Olympic gold medalist with Team Canada.
