Blue scores 17 in D-League All-Star Game

Former Marquette men's basketball star Vander Blue scored a team-high 17 points as the West NBA Development League All-Stars lost to the East team in Toronto.

Blue, who played for Marquette from 2010-13, was 5-of-5 shooting in the second half and grabbed four rebounds in 16 minutes. The West team lost 128-124 to the East team, which Jimmer Fredette led with 35 points.

Blue, a who was raised in Madison, Wis., is second in the D-League this season at 25.6 points per game. The 23-year-old guard is also averaging 5.2 rebounds and 3.8 assists in 38.5 minutes per game for the Los Angeles D-Fenders, who are 17-16.

Blue has appeared in five career NBA games for the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers. Undrafted out of college, he has played in summer leagues for the Houston Rockets, Memphis Grizzlies, San Antonio Spurs and Chicago Bulls. 

He also appeared in preseason games for the Philadelphia 76ers and has played for D-League teams in Idaho and Deleware. He also played briefly in Israel.

Blue averaged 9.3 points and 3.5 rebounds per game in 106 games for Marquette. He earned All-Big East second team honors during the 2012-13 season.
