Blue Jackets add Gibbons on two-way deal
July 4th may be a national holiday, but the Blue Jackets did not take the day off from working to develop their roster for next season.
The club announced the signing of forward Brian Gibbons to a one-year, two-way contract, bringing the 26-year-old into the fold after he spent the past three seasons in the organization of the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Gibbons, a Boston College product, made his NHL debut last season and saw action in 41 games for the Pens while also suiting up for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the AHL. He scored eight goals with 22 assists in the NHL regular season and added three more points in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, including a pair of goals against the CBJ on April 19. Those tallies gave Pittsburgh a 2-0 lead, but the Jackets rallied to win the game in overtime.
