Billy the Marlin accepts Raymond's Ice Bucket Challenge

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 6:28 p.m. ET

Billy the Marlin was given 24 hours to complete the Ice Bucket Challenge after being nominated by fellow MLB mascot, the Tampa Bay Rays' Raymond. Billy wasted no time joining the Ice Bucket movement, and he fearlessly leaped into the Marlin's ice bath just hours after his nomination.

Eager to join the efforts to #StrikeOutMLS, Billy held up signs that read, "Thank you, @RaysRaymond for challenging me. I consider myself the luckiest fish on the face of the earth."

While still standing in the cold tub, Billy invited more Floridian mascots to join the action by nominating the Miami Heat's Burnie, University of Miami's Sebastian the Ibis, and Stanley C. Panther of the Florida Panthers.

Billy is not the only Miami Marlin to brave the cold waters of the Ice Bucket Challenge. Marlin's closer, Steve Cishek, also took part in the Ice Bucket phenomenon and nominated Marlin's All-Star Giancarlo Stanton to get on board.

The Marlins are running an auction at marlins.com/icebucket where fans can bid on an experience that will include a visit to the Marlins Clubhouse, four batting practice passes, four Diamond Club tickets, a photo opportunity with Stanton, and most importantly-- the opportunity to douse the man who leads the National League in both home runs (31) and RBI (82) with ice cold water.
