Big Drama kicked off his 5-year-old campaign with a track-record run Saturday in the $100,000 Mr. Prospector Stakes at Gulfstream Park.

Trained by David Fawkes and ridden by Eibar Coa, Big Drama shook off a challenge from defending champion Custom for Carlos at the head of the stretch, finishing 6 furlongs in 1:08.12 for a 4-length victory. Big Drama broke the track record of 1:08.46 set by Tiger in 2006.

Big Drama, the Breeders' Cup Sprint winner, has 10 victories in 17 starts with earnings of $2,699,560. The homebred son of Montbrook paid $3, $2.10 and $2.10.

Custom for Carlos returned $2.60 and $2.20, and Our Edge paid $3.40 to show.
