The sport of football is a great motivator. It can bring together families, unite communities and inspire people to do the otherwise impossible.
In the case of 5-year old Zach Dacy, that is exactly what happened.
The son of two Northern Illinois alums, Joe and Jen, Zach got a shot a Huskies quarterback, Jordan Lynch at a team practice. A 5-year old taking on a D-1 offensive line, is a feat in itself, add that Zach has been battling lukemia since 2011, and kid is flat-out amazing.
So, when Lynch dropped back, Zach tore through the line, and the QB was toast.
As Zach deals with chemo treatment including travelling to Loyola University every four weeks, and additional chemo injected into a spinal port every three months, his experience on the football field looks easy.
