Bengals pay visit to Reds at GABP
The Reds played host to some of their football-playing neighbors as head coach Marvin Lewis brought a large group of Bengals to join them for batting practice Wednesday night.
Among the highlights – as detailed by Bengals.com – were a summit between defensive stars Brandon Phillips and Geno Atkins, some reminiscing by Andy Dalton and a long home run by Queen City native J.K. Shaffer.
"I'm a big fan of y'all," Phillips said after presenting Atkins and fellow defensive lineman Domata Peko with a pair of his bats. "That's why I go to every game in the offseason."
Atkins, who led all NFL interior linemen with 12.5 sacks last season, proved more prodigious at rushing the quarterback than smacking the ball around the yard.
"Hitting a baseball isn't my thing," Atkins said. "These bats are too light."
