Become a Detroit Pistons Dancer
AUBURN HILLS, Mich. -- Auditions for the 2012-13 Detroit Pistons Dancers will be held July 28-29 at The Palace of Auburn Hills.
Dancers will be judged on ability, athleticism, personality, self-confidence and teamwork, and must be 18 years or older by Oct. 1, 2012. Participants are required to wear dance attire, and must submit a headshot and resume at registration.
Registration is July 28 at 8 a.m. in the West Atrium. Initial auditions will begin at 9 a.m.
The preliminary round will consist of two sets of choreography -- one jazz short routine and one hip hop routine. Dancers will learn the first routine and audition in groups of eight in front of a panel of judges before the first cuts are made.
Dancers will then learn a second routine and audition in smaller groups in front of the judges. Those who make it through the second round of cuts will advance to the semifinals, which will be held July 29.
The dance team will perform during games and at halftime alongside some of the biggest names in music, including Taio Cruz, Flo Rida, Wyclef Jean, T-Pain, Gladys Knight and Hammer.
