Beach volleyball star Kerri Walsh Jennings injures shoulder

MOSCOW (AP) Three-time Olympic beach volleyball champion Kerri Walsh Jennings withdrew from a pool match Wednesday in the Moscow Grand Slam because of a right shoulder injury.

Walsh Jennings and April Ross led Liliane Maestrini and Carol Maximo 5-2 in the first set of the FIVB World Tour event at the time of the injury. The Americans are scheduled to play their next match Thursday.

Walsh Jennings posted a message on Twitter, saying: ''The healing has begun. From Russia with love. K.''

On Sunday, Walsh Jennings and Ross won the New Orleans Open to extend their AVP Tour winning streak to eight events. They have won nine of the 10 AVP tournaments they have played together. Walsh Jennings won her 74th AVP tournament title and 125th worldwide.
