Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert will enter Govenor Charlie in the Preakness.

Baffert wanted to check on his horse's health before making a decision. Convinced the colt was ready to run, Baffert sent Govenor Charlie on a flight from Kentucky to Baltimore on Wednesday morning.

His addition brings the field to nine for Saturday's Preakness.

Govenor Charlie did not run in the Kentucky Derby because a minor foot bruise caused him to miss some training time in April. The horse has since had three solid workouts.

Jockey Martin Garcia, who has ridden Govenor Charlie in his three career races, will be aboard in the Preakness.

Govenor Charlie will be Baffert's 14th Preakness starter. He has won the race five times, most recently in 2010.
