Badgers to give away 'Bo tie' T-shirts Saturday
MADISON, Wis. — Put on your shiny shoes and dress slacks Saturday at the Kohl Center, because the "Bo Tie" is back.
All fans that attend Saturday's Wisconsin game against Minnesota will receive a free "Bo Tie" T-shirt featuring Badgers basketball coach Bo Ryan's face across a giant screenprinted bow tie and vest. Last year, similar shirts were issued for one game only to the university's "Grateful Red" student section.
The shirts are part of the "Suits and Sneakers" weekend, a nationwide annual event in which coaches are encouraged to wear sneakers to raise awareness for the fight against cancer. Coaches from both Wisconsin and Minnesota will wear sneakers with their suits on Saturday.
Earlier this year, Ryan and his wife, Kelly, raised a total of $41,279 for cancer research when more than 1,600 Wisconsin students participated in a Charity Stripe Challenge.
In addition to fans getting in on the "Bo Tie" action this weekend, Wisconsin players received the new shirts after Thursday's practice.
"It looks good," Badgers center Jared Berggren said. "I hope I get to keep this, because I'll be wearing this around campus."
