Badgers sweep Alaska behind four third-period goals
The Wisconsin Badgers scored four third-period goals to break a 1-1 tie against Alaska, sweeping the Nanooks with a 5-2 victory Saturday at the Kohl Center.
Luke Kunin, Jake Linhart, Cameron Hughes and Matthew Freytag scored in the third period for the Badgers (6-12-6, 1-7-2-1 Big Ten), who won for the second time in 2016.
Wisconsin's Will Johnson scored the game's first goal 4:25 into the first period, but the Nanooks (7-15-4, 5-11-4 WCHA) tied the game 7:30 later.
The game remained tied until Kunin scored on a power play 50 seconds into the third period. Alaska tied the game less than two minutes later, but Linhart scored the game-winning goal 3:49 into the period.
Seamus Malone and Adam Rockwood each tallied two assists for Wisconsin, and Matt Jurusik made 30 saves in the victory. The Badgers converted on two of their three power plays.
Wisconsin hosts Michigan next weekend at the Kohl Center.
