Badgers forge 1-1 overtime tie against Ferris State

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 9:48 p.m. ET

Wisconsin couldn't hold on to a late lead in Friday night's defensive battle against Ferris State, which ended in a 1-1 tie.

The Badgers (0-8-1) took a 1-0 lead in the third period on a power-play goal from Matt Ustaski, but Ferris State drew even at 7:29, thanks to a goal by Andrew Dorantes that sent the game into overtime.

Officially, the result of the game was a tie, though Wisconsin's Morgan Zulinick scored in the first round of a shootout, giving the Badgers a 1-0 victory in what was essentially a practice shootout.

Ustaski's goal was his first of the season and it marked the second straight game Wisconsin scored on a power play. Goaltender Joel Rumpel made 34 saves for the Badgers.
