SYDNEY, Australia (AP) Australia cricket coach Darren Lehmann hopes to be able to join his team on its tour to New Zealand as early as next week after recovering from a bout of deep vein thrombosis.

Lehmann was treated in hospital a week ago after a recurrence of the illness and is awaiting medical clearance to fly to New Zealand. Deep vein thrombosis can be aggravated by air travel.

Lehmann said he is feeling recovered ''but until medical clearance comes through to fly, I'll have to wait and see.''

Australia meets New Zealand in Auckland on Wednesday in the first of three one-day internationals ahead of a two-test series.
