As hype builds, new Mangini enjoying the view

CLEVELAND -- It's not exactly the circus rolling into town, but Sunday's suddenly interesting game between the Jets and Browns sure does have a lot of subplots.
The Hard-Knockin', trash-talkin, sure-to-fill-the-Pro-Bowl Jets, who are supposed to win these kind of games.
The colorful, lovable, censorable Brothers Ryan.
The Legend of Colt McCoy.
More than a dozen guys playing against their old team. A Browns player fainted in the locker room before practice this week. A battle of two of the league's best and most unique special teams players, Joshua Cribbs and Brad Smith.
Sideshow Braylon.
All those things are grabbing headlines, almost to the point that Eric Mangini is flying under the radar.
That's a thought that would certainly make Mangini smile. And Mangini is actually smiling these days -- and not just because his team comes into this game against his old team riding a two-game win streak, having dominated the defending Super Bowl champs in their building and doing the same to the Patriots in Cleveland last week.
Eric Mangini, Version 2.0, got great personal pleasure from beating his mentor and onetime close friend, Bill Belichick. But this Mangini is enjoying everything more these days because he's not trying to be Belichick. Or Bill Parcells. Or anybody but himself, the guy who's enjoying working and sharing ideas with new boss Mike Holmgren but also coaching his team. One that's full of smart, tough, physical guys, one that makes few mistakes and one that might not be good at much but sure is good at the things it does, especially lately.
