TUCSON, Ariz. – Four players scored in double figures as the Arizona women’s basketball team routed Weber State 81-49 on Sunday at McKale Center.

Senior Davellyn Whyte led the Wildcats with 19 points, senior Cheshi Poston scored 15 and juniors Erica Barnes and Alli Gloyd added 13 each. Whyte, Poston, Barnes and Gloyd all had seven rebounds, and junior Kama Griffitts contributed five assists and six steals.

As a team, UA (7-3) took advantage of 35 Weber State (0-9) turnovers, scoring 32 points off of them. Arizona shot 46 percent from the field and 40 percent from behind the arc. Every player that entered the game for Arizona scored at least one point.

“I thought, overall, our team played well,” Arizona head coach Niya Butts said. “We had 31 shot attempts, and that’s pretty good. Davellyn is pretty consistent. If you had to pick a player that today played well, shot the ball well, took a couple charges, she had a couple rebounds and she did a lot of things well. I thought a couple of players showed some poise and were able to make things happen.”

UA started the game strong with a 7-0 run. Back-to-back 3-pointers by Whyte and four points from Barnes fueled a 12-0 run to give Arizona a 19-3 edge. Weber State battled back, but UA went in to halftime with a 37-25 lead behind Whyte’s 16 first-half points.

In the second half, Arizona took charge, firing out on a 24-3 run fueled by Gloyd’s eight points to turn it into a blowout.

The Wildcats will return to McKale Center to host Longwood to wrap up the nonconference portion of their schedule on Thursday, Dec. 20 at 5 p.m.
