Arizona United wins at Austin, improves to 3-0
AUSTIN, Texas -- Arizona United Soccer Club improved its record to 3-0-0 with a 1-0 victory over the Austin Aztex (2-2-0) on Saturday night. Forward Long Tan scored the lone goal for Arizona in the 49th minute from a Brad Stisser assist.
Arizona is off to a strong start in the USL with three consecutive road victories. The team plays its first four games on the road before its home opener on April 25 at Scottsdale Stadium.
Arizona United took control of the match before the halftime break and resumed its dominance at the start of the second half with high pressure from the midfielders and forwards. The tactic paid off in the 49th minute when the Austin Aztex were forced to play back to their goalkeeper, who cleared the ball forward. Second half substitute Stisser was able to redirect the ball down after he jumped in front of the clearance.
Defender Damian Rosales beat two Austin Aztex players to be ball and passed it to Stisser on the wing. He charged toward the box and passed it to Tan, who redirected the ball into the top corner for the game's only goal.
Arizona United concludes its stretch of road games on Saturday, April 18, playing the Orange County Blues (0-1-0).
