Arizona soccer overcome by No. 2 Stanford in OT

STANFORD, Calif. -- The Arizona women’s soccer dropped a 2-1 decision to No. 2 Stanford in overtime Friday night at Laird Q. Cagan Stadium.

Junior Emily Lai scored the Wildcats’ lone goal of the match in the 77th
minute off an intercepted pass from teammate Alexandra Doller, eventually sending the game to overtime before the Cardinal netted the winner.

Stanford (9-0-1) opened the scoring in the
36th minute, when Megan Turner headed the ball into the back of the net
off a corner kick from teammate Syndney Payne.

The Cardinal outshot the
Wildcats 22-19, with Taylor Uhl leading the team with five shots, including one on
goal. Senior Jazmin Ponce led Arizona (5-3-3) with five shots.

In net, goalkeeper Gabby Kaufman recorded three saves and was matched by Stanford's Jane Campbell, who had three of her own.
