Four-star prospect and highly regarded big man Angelo Chol of Hoover High School in San Diego announced Thursday that he will sign a letter of intent with Arizona.

Chol, who had been one of the few remaining uncommitted top 100 prospects for 2011, joins an already impressive class that includes five-star guard Josiah Turner and four-star prospects Nick Johnson and Sidiki Johnson. He is ranked No. 43 by Scout.com in the 2011 class.

The 6-foot-9 Chol visited Arizona, Washington, Alabama, North Carolina and Kansas. Through 28 games this season, he is averaging 23.4 points, 14.8 rebounds and 8.1 blocked shots per outing. Chol has 39 made three-pointer and is shooting 36 percent from behind the three-point stripe.

Chol's decision would leave the Wildcats three over their scholarship limit for 2011-12. The NCAA limit is 13, but Arizona is under a self-imposed reduction to 12 scholarships because of a recruiting violation incurred during Lute Olson's tenure in 2008.

One scholarship would become available if sophomore forward Derrick Williams opts to declare for the NBA Draft. Other scholarships would have to be freed up by players leaving the program.
