Arizona 24th in preseason baseball rankings

Defending national champion Arizona is ranked 24th in Baseball America's Preseason Top 25. Arizona State is unranked.

The Wildcats are one of five Pac-12 teams in thw preseason rankings. Oregon State tops the group at No. 6, followed by Stanford (9), UCLA (12) and Oregon (15).

North Carolina tops the preseason rankings, followed by Vanderbilt and Arkansas.

Arizona is led by Pac-12 batting champ Johnny Field and returning starting pitchers Konner Wade and James Farris.

Oregon State returns nine players who started at least 24 games last year, led by Pac-12 Freshman of the Year Michael Conforto. Stanford is led by ace pitcher Mark Appel, who was 10-2 a year ago and opted to return for his senior season despite being the eighth player selected in the MLB Draft.

UCLA also returns one of the nation's top pitchers in preseason All-American Adam Plutko, while Oregon boasts an experienced roster and one of the nation's top bullpens, led by Jimmie Sherfy (19 saves in 2012).
