NFL superstar Arian Foster says he is finished with Twitter.
The Houston Texans running back took to the social media site early Monday morning to inform his followers that he will soon be off the site.
"Got about a week left on twitter, then I'm shutting her down," the tweet read.
But, like all great decisions, the sudden end to Foster's Twitter account came in the wee hours of the morning.
"Made a decision at 3am," Foster tweeted about an hour later.
If Foster's truly finished with Twitter, he's going to have close to 375,000 disappointed followers who have become accustomed to the amusing tweets that have varied from his NFL career to his political thoughts to his spiritual beliefs.
Before the 2011 season, Foster famously tweeted a picture of an MRI from his injured hamstring that he suffered during the preseason.
"This is an MRI of my hamstring," Foster tweeted. "The white stuff surrounding the muscle is known in the medical world as anti-awesomeness."
Foster was criticized for posting what some believed was private, team information.
"If I had a 'significant injury' why post it? I'll be fine, it was jus meant to make fun of the whole situation," Foster responded to the criticism in a tweet. "Humor is lost nowadays."
Foster also used the social media platform to tell the world that he was now a vegan last July.
A look through his recent posts does not indicate anything happening that would make Foster want to quit his account, but it looks like the 2010 NFL rushing leader is serious about wrapping up his digital life, at least for now, ending Monday with a more philosophical (or is it eccentric?) tweet.
"It's been fun, twitter! Time for me to leave the digital realm. Be the light you want to see on the earth. Peace."
