Arena Football League squad grabs Guiton
Kenny Guiton has not been able to latch on with an NFL team after the quarterback finished his final year of eligibility at Ohio State, but perhaps his playing career is not complete.
The Arena Football League announced Tuesday night Guiton has been assigned to the Los Angeles KISS, an AFL team owned in part by Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley (members of the rock band of the same name).
Whether Guiton plans to join the first-year expansion team is unclear, but he figures to have a bright future in the game one way or another after endearing himself to the Ohio State coaches for his football acumen.
The KISS roster already includes Aaron Garcia, a veteran of nearly 20 years who is the AFL's all-time leading passer, and Tyler Hansen, a rookie from Colorado who started and lost a game for the Buffaloes at Ohio Stadium against Ohio State in 2011.
Guiton played in seven games last season for Ohio State with two starts. He completed 75 of 109 passes with 14 touchdowns and two interceptions, and his QB efficiency rating of 165.2 led the Big Ten and set an OSU single-season record. In 2012, he played in eight games, most memorably leading a fourth quarter rally and overtime victory against Purdue.
