Angels ace Weaver 'not worried' about forearm tightness

The forearm tightness that forced Jered Weaver to be scratched from Friday night's start was not severe enough to warrant an MRI exam, and the Angels ace expects to pitch Wednesday against Oakland.

The tightness is on the outside of the forearm and inside of the elbow. It would be a bigger concern if it was on the inside of the forearm, where the ulnar collateral ligament is located.

"It's nothing I'm worried about; it's just something that's been lingering," Weaver said. "If we were in a playoff hunt, I could pitch. But I was honest with [manager Mike] Scioscia, and he felt it would be best to work this out and push me back."

Weaver, who is 10-8 with a 3.36 ERA, said the forearm began to tighten up after a Sept. 9 game at Minnesota. He felt fine last Sunday in Houston, where he allowed two runs and six hits in six innings of an Angels victory, but the injury flared up this week.
