Anderson Silva already back on his feet, lifting weights like a boss

Following his leg-shattering loss to Chris Weidman at UFC 162, the general consensus among MMA fans and pundits alike was that Anderson Silva would never fight again.

Not that he needed to; with a record-setting 16 consecutive UFC wins and 10 title defenses to his credit, it’s safe to say that “The Spider” had his legacy as the G.O.A.T pretty much locked up for the indefinite future. But despite warnings and pleas from his friends, family, fans, and Joe Rogan to quietly retire and spend the rest of his days sipping mojitos at his summer home and collecting dat Burger King money, it appears as if Silva will instead be making good on his promise to fight again before the end of 2014.

That being the case, the former middleweight champion was recently snapped undergoing some routine physical therapy in the above photo, which in Silva’s case means lifting weights unassisted and not getting drunk on bottom-barrel wine and Haagan-Dazs gelato as previously suspected. If this photo doesn’t make you feel like less of a man for taking off work last week with that “stomach bug,” I don’t know what will.

Regardless of whether you think Silva should step back into the octagon again or not, his insane recovery rate just goes to show that you can never keep a UFC champion down, no matter how brutally you maim him in the octagon. Matter of fact, I’m pretty sure that if Weidman were to draw and quarter Silva in their next fight, “The Spider” would probably just continue punching and kicking with the stumps left behind, reassuring Weidman that “it’s just a flesh wound.”
