An inspirational story from St. Clairsville

These days, our sports headlines are all-too-often dominated by reports about athletes getting into trouble or letting their egos rage out of control. In this environment, it's great to see a story as uplifting as that reported by USA Today earlier this week.
St. Clairsville RB Michael Ferns, a Michigan recruit, was wide open, running downfield for a touchdown in their victory against Richland, but purposely slowed and stepped out of bounds, confusing both the crowd and the officials, who signaled a touchdown.
After a short argument by players telling referees that they didn't score a touchdown, the reasons for Ferns unusual behavior became clear.
