Tell them that Tony Romo is a better quarterback than Eli Manning.
That might be a common opinion coming from a Dallas Cowboys fan, but for one of the Giants' all-time great receivers to voice that opinion, well, that's down right unacceptable.
But those are the thoughts expressed this week by former Giants wide receiver Amani Toomer.
"Tony Romo is probably, if you look at it statistically, he's probably the best quarterback in the NFC East,” Toomer said while co-hosting the show "Moving the Chains" on SiriusXM NFL Radio. "You look at Eli Manning and what he does in the fourth quarter, but you talk about consistency, talking about 31 touchdowns and only 10 interceptions, that guy can play.
"I'm talking about, for me, if I wanted a guy that is going to throw less interceptions and be more productive, higher completion percentage, I'm going to go with Tony Romo."
Of course, if you want a guy who can win a playoff game, let alone two Super Bowls, you might want to go with Manning — and that's something even Cowboys fans would tell you.
Statistically speaking, the two were not that far apart last season.
Manning finished with 29 touchdowns and 16 interceptions while throwing for 4,933 yards. Romo threw for 31 touchdowns, 10 interceptions and 4,184 yards.
Romo did hold a large quarterback rating advantage over Manning, 102.5-92.9. But at last check, quarterback ratings don't win Super Bowls. Just ask Eli.
