DETROIT -- Al Alburquerque's comeback from surgery on his right
(pitching) elbow has suffered a minor setback.

He was in Detroit on Saturday and diagnosed with minor
inflammation in the elbow by team doctors.

Alburquerque, who's been on a minor-league rehab assignment
since July 24, said he felt some tenderness in the elbow after throwing 44
pitches over 2 2/3 innings for the Toledo Mud Hens in his last outing,
Wednesday against Syracuse.

Alburquerque is expected to rest for a few days and then
rejoin Toledo on its 11-game road trip. He was originally scheduled to make another relief appearance for the Mud Hens on Sunday.

Once Alburquerque's rehab assignment concludes on Aug. 24,
the Tigers must decide whether to activate him from the 60-day disabled list,
either keeping him in Detroit or assigning him to the minors. If they activate
him, they must also make room for him on their 40-man roster.
