AL Central Fantasy Baseball News: Lonnie Baseball Could Return Wednesday

Published Apr. 18, 2016 9:53 a.m. ET

There are a couple guys returning from the DL soon and a couple who couldn't keep things on the D.L. in this week's AL Central water cooler news and notes.

Chicago White Sox:

Startling Starting Pitchers

While Chris Sale's domination is no surprise, it may shock some fantasy baseball owners that Mat Latos is also having a great start to the 2016 campaign. In his first two starts, Latos has allowed one combined earned run and only four hits in 12 innings of work. The White Sox have the third-best ERA among team starting pitchers in all of baseball (2.79 ERA). They trail only the Nationals (1.93 ERA) and the Cubs (2.49 ERA).

Cleveland Indians:

Lonnie Baseball Set To Return

Over the weekend, Indians manager Terry Francona mentioned that third baseman, Lonnie Chisenhall, is expected to return to Cleveland's 25-man roster this Wednesday. Chisenhall is rehabbing from a left wrist impingement.

Kluber Clubbed

Much like 2015, Cleveland's ace has lost his first three starts of the season. On Sunday, Kluber allowed six earned runs in the 6-0 loss to the Mets. Last year, it took eight outings before Kluber notched his first victory. It was a home game against the Cardinals when the Klubot exterminated 18 batters via the strikeout. He is slated to pitch in Detroit on Saturday.

Crowd Goes Wild

A couple of fans were caught rounding the bases at the Indians game this weekend...

They provided more support for Kluber than the Tribe ever could.

Detroit Tigers:

Call Me Maybin?

Former first-round pick, Cameron Maybin, is now on a rehabilitation assignment with the Tigers Triple-A affiliate, Toledo. Maybin suffered a fractured left wrist in his first at-bat of spring training when Luis Severino hit him with a pitch.

Kansas City Royals:

Young And The Winless

After another poor outing on Saturday against Oakland, Chris Young continues to wait for his first win in 2016. He hasn't won a game as a starting pitcher since September 27th, against the Indians. He currently owns a 7.90 ERA. Young is scheduled to pitch again on Friday against the visiting Orioles.

Minnesota Twins:

Winning Streak

After a nine-game losing streak to start the 2016 regular season, the Twins finally won their first game, 5-4 against the Angels. That's not all, Minnesota swept the Angels in a three-game series. They're going streaking!

The Nunez Factor

A main contributor in Minnesota's two wins was leadoff hitter Eduardo Nunez. In both games he combined for five hits on seven at-bats. With him at the top of the order, Nunez is providing a spark that the Twins desperately needed.
