Aggies routed by USC in Hall of Fame Tip-Off Classic

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) --
Bryce Jones scored a game-high 21 points and Nikola Vucevic added 19 to help Southern Cal defeat New Mexico State 80-61 on Sunday in the Hall of Fame Tip-Off Classic.

The Trojans (3-2) led 40-28 at halftime, thanks to 14-of-28 shooting (50 percent) and a 13-0 run. The spurt gave them a 17-5 lead with 13:47 left in the first. USC also went on a 9-2 run spanning the final 2:11 of the opening half.

USC stayed hot in the second half, shooting 15 for 30 (50 percent) from the field.

The Aggies struggled from the floor, shooting 20 of 56 (35.7 percent) and trailed by 23, 75-52, with 3:24 remaining.

Christian Kabongo led New Mexico State with 14 points and seven rebounds.

Tshilidzi Nephawe and Gordo Castillo both came off the bench to score 13 apiece for the Aggies in the loss.

Vucevic averaged 16.7 points and 9.7 rebounds during the three-game tournament.
