COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith says his department is looking into 12 additional secondary or minor NCAA violations.
In an interview with the school newspaper, The Lantern, Smith had made an ambiguous statement about the violations. In a statement released Thursday, he made it clear none of the new infractions was major.
Ohio State said last week it was investigating 46 minor NCAA offenses.
The dozen new violations include providing expenses for an aunt who was thought to be the legal guardian of a prospective football recruit on his official visit; scholarship agreements sent to three athletes without being signed by the financial-aid officer; and a baseball recruit getting a free ticket to a home baseball game during a noncontact period.
