Florida State scored touchdowns on consecutive offensive plays early in
the first quarter, setting the tone for a big scoring day for the
Seminoles in which they clinched the ACC Atlantic. After taking five
minutes off the clock, the 'Noles scored on their opening drive capped
by a Devonta Freeman 5-yard touchdown run. After a fumble on the ensuing
kickoff, EJ Manuel completed a ten-yard touchdown to Nick O'Leary for a
14-0 lead. FSU went into the second quarter up by the same score, and
went into halftime up 27-0.
-- Maryland, a team still devastated
by injury, managed little offensively. Terrapin QB Shawn Petty did
complete a 33-yard touchdown pass to Kevin Dorsey in the third quarter,
and a 42-yard score to Kevin Dorsey with 25 seconds remaining in the
fourth. Maryland gained 170 total yards, with 136 yards in the air and
just 34 rushing yards.
-- FSU exploded on the ground, gaining 237
of their 397 total yards on the ground. Devonta Freeman did the bulk of
the work, amassing 148 yards on 16 carries for a 9.3 average on his way
to two touchdowns. James Wilder added a touchdown and 52 yards. EJ
Manuel completed 17 of 23 passes for 144 yards, two touchdowns and one
interception.

Virginia Tech came out of top of a back-and-forth contest against the
Boston College Eagles in overtime, after trailing at halftime, leading
in the third quarter, and fighting back again the fourth. Logan Thomas
carried the Hokies, with a touchdown run and 37-yard touchdown pass in
the third quarter. He capped off the performance with a 7-yard pass to
Ryan Malleck for the victory in overtime.
-- Boston College was
unable to hold their lead built in the first half, and went quiet
offensively in the second until losing the lead. Spiffy Evans gave the
Eagles good field position, allowing David Dudeck and Alex Amidon to
gain the necessary yards for Dudeck to punch in the score. It was the
last score for the Eagles, who were stopped short on their first
possession in overtime.
-- Hokies' WR Marcus Davis led the game
in receiving yards with 105. Davis also added a touchdown in the third
quarter. Tech also managed 154 yards on the ground, with 69 from Tony
Gregory and 48 from J.C. Coleman.
