35 predictions for Oklahoma vs. TCU
Another week, another road game for the Oklahoma football team.
Last game out, the Sooners were in Morgantown, W.V., where the threat of couch burning was imminent.
Now, it's to Fort Worth where the mighty TCU Horned Frogs wait coming off wins over worthy opponents Samford and SMU.
What to expect? Here are 35 guesses to clear everything up for as the Sooners try to improve to 5-0 on the season.
What an upset Arizona pulled on Thursday night. Hope you enjoyed it, because 1. as soon as TCU gets a first down you can count on the announcers talking about how the Frogs are primed for the upset.
2. And the announcers will be right. For awhile. 3. This game will be within a score at the end of the first quarter. 4. And within 10 points at halftime.
Did you read about the whimsical Alex Ross? You should. Here's the link. The sophomore already has three plays of 80 yards or more this year. 5. This won't be the game where he has another. However, 6. Ross will get 16 or more carries. 7. And finishes with more than 100 all-purpose yards.
7. It's OK. We know. You'll miss Keith Ford this week at running back. 8. He should be back next week for the Texas game. But you won't miss Ford too much because 9. Samaje Perine will rush for 85 or more yards. 10. Perine won't get to 200, 11. But he will score at least twice. I2. In the first half.
TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin also leads the team in rushing yards, getting more than 6.3 per game. 13. He'll have at least three runs of 12 or more yards Saturday. Boykin is averaging just less than 10 carries per game. 14. He'll have 15 or more Saturday, mostly because 15. Boykin will be running for his life. Now, Boykin will get away a few times, sure, but 16. he'll also be sacked three or more times. 17. And fumble two or more times, too. 18. As well as throw at least one interception. Yeah, that's a lot of turnovers.
19. Trevor Knight will have his best game of the season. 20. He won't be as good as he was against Alabama, but 21. Knight will have more than 60 yards rushing. Sure, that's not a lot, but he had no carries against West Virginia and hasn't run for more than 35 yards in any game this season. Interesting, considering he's thought of as a run-pass kind of quarterback.
Saturday, 22. Knight will rush for at least one score. 23. And pass for one, too. 24. This will not be the game Knight catches a touchdown pass, although 25. Coach Bob Stoops will run at least one trick play. 26. It will not be an on-sides kick. 27. It's going to be a fake punt.
28. No one will be calling the Sooners the best team in the country Saturday because 29. Alabama will win at Ole Miss.
Remember when Paul Thompson quarterbacked the Sooners in the opening-game loss against TCU? 30. Saturday's game won't be anything like that. I'm just saying.
Everyone will be expecting lots of defense because TCU is giving up just seven points per game. 31. You'll see plenty of offense. 32. The teams will combine for more than 52 points. 33. OU will get at least 30 of those points. 34. And have more yards than its season average of 495.
35. And win by at least eight points.
