3 Takeaways from the Blue Jackets' 6-3 win over Florida
One: After getting shellacked Thursday by New Jersey, the Blue Jackets started the game with good offensive pressure in the Florida zone. They kept this pressure applied throughout the game. The signs of rust from two days ago are seemingly falling to the wayside, which is a good sign assuming they can repeat this for the next 22 games.
Two: Special teams were the name of the game for Columbus. Three goals were scored on the power play, one was a short-handed beauty from Anisimov with 10 seconds to go in the second period and the other two were of the empty-net variety in the third period.
Three: With the empty-net goal that Nick Foligno scored in the waning moments of the third, he now has 200 career NHL points. He has fast become a part of the very fabric, the heart and soul, of this club. Congratulations, Nick.
Overtime: I would like to take this opportunity to welcome Joe Reedy to Fox Sports Ohio. He will be covering the Cleveland Indians for FSO/STO and be stalking the halls of Nationwide Arena from time to time during the baseball offseason looking for a story to complement FSO's coverage of the Blue Jackets. Welcome aboard, Joe.
