12-year-old runner LeeAdianez Rodriguez planned to participate in her second 5k at the Flower City Challenge in Rochester, New York, over the weekend - but she ended up running more than four times as long after lining up at the wrong time.

Rodriguez's mother dropped her off near the start and she rushed over to where other runners were gathering, but Rodriguez unknowingly joined the half marathon group. She figured it out when she noticed that the race wasn't ending as quickly as she expected, but decided to push to the end anyway.

"I knew after while that I was in the half marathon and I was like 'I'm going to finish this, I'm going to keep going.'"

Rodriguez's mother, meanwhile, feared that she had lost her child when she didn't show up at the finish line of the 5k.

Astoundingly, Rodriguez was one of six 12-year-olds to run the half marathon, according to the Democrat & Chronicle, and there was even a 7-year-old that completed the race.
