Three-time overall World Cup ski champion Lindsey Vonn has agreed to mentor athletes at the inaugural 20212 Winter Youth Games in Innsbruck, Austria.
The IOC says Vonn will serve as an ''ambassador'' for the event, which will feature more than 1,000 athletes between ages 15 and 18 competing in seven sports.
IOC President Jacques Rogge says ''it is terrific to have such an iconic and successful winter athlete to mentor athletes and encourage kids around the world to take up sport.''
Vonn is the reigning Olympic downhill champion.
The first Summer Youth Olympics were held in Singapore last year.
