Lindsey Vonn says she needed stitches in her thumb after trying to break up a fight between her dogs over a Frisbee

The star American skier described what happened on her Twitter account and then posted a video of her injured right thumb.

She added on her Instagram account: ''This is what I get.'' She also thanked U.S. ski team physician Dr. Randy Viola for fixing her thumb.

This has been a rough start to the season for the four-time overall World Cup champion. Vonn broke her left ankle during a training crash in New Zealand three months ago. The injury kept her out of the season-opening giant slalom in Austria last month.

She was hoping to race in Aspen, Colorado, at the end of the month.
