VA gives $7.5M for disabled sports programs
The Department of Veterans Affairs has awarded two grants worth $7.5 million to the U.S. Olympic Committee. The money is to enhance sports opportunities for disabled veterans and members of the armed forces.
Funds will go to the USOC's member organizations, Paralympic sports clubs and other veteran and military organizations to further community based programs.
A federal law authorized the VA to award grants to the USOC, which is in charge of planning an adaptive sports program.
The VA also appointed Christopher J. Nowak as director of its Paralympics Program Office.
