USA Badminton moves to Anaheim, joins volleyball, water polo

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) USA Badminton is relocating its national headquarters and training center to Anaheim, where USA Volleyball and USA Water Polo already have a presence.

Sports Anaheim, a division of the marketing organization for Anaheim and Garden Grove, announced Monday that it has signed partnership agreements with the three national governing bodies. Sports Anaheim is focused on bringing diverse events to Anaheim and Orange County.

USA Badminton will move from Colorado Springs, Colorado. Sports Anaheim is taking over the contract between USA Volleyball and the city of Anaheim with an extension through 2020. USA Water Polo will stage its 2017 and 2019 national Junior Olympics event in Anaheim.

USA Badminton's chairman of the board David Simon says the move to Anaheim will bring the organization closer to many of its members and athletes.

USA Volleyball's men's team relocated to Anaheim in 2006 and the women's team followed in 2009.
