LAKE PLACID, N.Y. (AP) Tucker West of the U.S. won his second career World Cup luge gold medal Friday, edging Russia's Semen Pavlichenko by 0.006 seconds.

West finished two runs in 1 minute, 43.088 seconds. The margin between first and second place matched the smallest in a World Cup men's race since February 2013 - 34 events ago, when Andi Langenham of Germany topped Russia's Albert Demtschenko by 0.004 seconds.

West's other World Cup gold was also on the home ice of Mount Van Hoevenberg in 2014.

Earlier Friday, Germany's Toni Eggert and Sascha Benecken won the World Cup luge doubles race, edging Matt Mortensen and Jayson Terdiman - who gave USA Luge its first doubles medal since 2010.
