Switzerland's Olympic committee says the country is capable of hosting the 2022 Winter Games and will form a strategy to present a bid to the International Olympic Committee.

The Swiss Olympic body said Friday that a report it commissioned concludes that the Alpine nation could proceed with a bid.

Switzerland is a winter sports stronghold but has not hosted a Games since 1948 in St. Moritz, which also hosted in 1928.

Geneva is a likely contender to be host, but Swiss Olympic committee president Joerg Schild says a bid would only succeed if the entire country got behind it.
