Snowboarder Hight's mom arrested in NY
The California mother of an Olympic snowboarder is locked up in New York after being accused of being part of a large-scale marijuana trafficking ring.
Erie County Sheriff's officials in Buffalo say 51-year-old Myra Hight had more than $77,000 in cash on her when she was arrested in the suburb of Hamburg a week ago. The arrest was announced Monday.
Investigators believe Hight, the mother of Olympian Elena Hight, drove marijuana from the West Coast and was picking up payment for it. She's been charged with conspiracy to distribute marijuana.
A male who answered the phone at a South Lake Tahoe, Calif., phone listing in Hight's name declined to say whether she has a lawyer. He wouldn't identify himself but said Hight was in New York on a business trip.
